Optical illusion test
Twenty original illusions, twenty questions. Answer with your first impression, then see the truth and your score out of 20.
How the test works
Every question uses an illusion drawn for Opticalillusions.com with exact measurements, so every answer can be checked with a ruler or a color picker. Most people score between 6 and 12. A low score is normal: these illusions fool people with perfect eyesight because they exploit shortcuts the brain uses every second. Want a shorter game? Try the 8-question quiz, or test your first impressions with What do you see first?
Is this optical illusion test scientific?
Each question uses a real, well-studied illusion, and every answer is measurable from the image. But a score on a 20-question online test is a bit of fun, not a medical or psychological assessment.
Does a low score mean my eyesight is bad?
No. These illusions fool people with perfect eyesight. They work because of how the brain interprets images, not because of problems with the eyes.
Why do I still see the illusion after learning the answer?
Most illusions happen early in visual processing, before knowledge can step in. Knowing the truth changes your answer, not what you see.
Can I use the test in class?
Yes. Teachers are welcome to show the test in class. See our free printable worksheets on the optical illusions for kids page.
